George Will and Co. like to wax poetic about baseball, and spring and renewed hope and eternal optimism and similar cloying garbage when in reality that mythic ideal only ever occurred in one place: Dodgertown in Vero Beach Florida - it was baseball heaven (Fenway denied this honor due to abundant Massholes, Wrigely due to abundant skanks, Ebbets Field due to being torn down in 1961)

so does baseball hold onto this tradition (because Jesus Christ does baseball love it tradition - almost as much as it loves its arcane worthless statistics )no it throws its one true remaining tradition overboard so the Dodgers can move to wait..for it wait for it: Arizona!!

Arizona is the state must devoid of tradition; it's a giant strip mall created in 1988 - even it's "native son" John McCain only moved there in 1982 so he could win a senate seat - the place goes against everything spring training used to be about
